With 1Password memberships I can at least share the good news that families and teams can use Account Recovery to restore their own access Yes, instead you can now provide basically no features for extended periods of time because the customers can’t stop paying you. No More needing to hold back on features for creating a “big splash” for major upgrades Except phrased as “our users are raging imbeciles, so it’s great that we no longer have to tell them they’re morons.” 99, nay, 100% of all your “reasons memberships are awesome” are benefits for AgileBits, not users. That’s because that’s exactly what you’re doing, you numbskulls. When I read the various posts spreading about I am most saddened by the suggestions that we are abandoning these customers to run after the money. No thanks AgileBits, not at all interested in subsidising software for idiots who can't set up Dropbox sync or a browser plugin.ĮDIT: AgileBits are deleting all comments on the blog post that mention questions or concerns with the subscription option, whilst getting their employees to write rave reviews under the guise of being users. It's a compendium of technical asininity, not some exciting feature list for users who've spent longer than 5 minutes on a computer.

So while I sympathise with how this presents problems for AgileBits economically, a subscription model for features I don't need is not something I'd ever consider. Aside from the encryption being secure, the only other thing that needs ongoing updates and monitoring is browser addon compatibility. The issue is that, with 1Password in particular, there's only so much AgileBits can do in developing the app. I'd gladly pay $60-$80 for it, but I refuse to add 1Password to the the long list of ongoing and ceaseless monthly expenses that I have. Just to be clear, I'm more than happy to pay for the standalone app. So if AgileBits is reading this, there ya go. However, I will not pay a subscription for this software. And I've been using 1Password for 9 years and convinced at least 8 people (that I can think of) to use it. If you still can’t find your Secret Key, contact 1Password Support. If 1Password forces the subscription model, I'll find an alternative, end of story.
